Dmytro Lubchinsky, 1997.
On June 16, 2024, due to an attempted murder resulting from the deliberate detonation of a grenade, the patient sustained an explosive injury. The injuries include:
- Fire and shrapnel blind penetrating craniocerebral injury with an entrance wound in the occipital region;
- Open penetrating brain injury;
- Compression of the brain by a left hemisphere subdural hematoma;
- Grade 1 cerebral contusion;
- Contusive hemorrhagic foci in the left occipital and parietal lobes;
- Subarachnoid hemorrhage;
- Small bone fragments in the left occipital lobe, and a metallic foreign body in the area of the cerebellar tentorium;
- Hole fracture of the left occipital bone;
- Linear fracture of the right frontal bone (outer wall of the frontal sinus) extending to the roof of the right orbit;
- Bruised wound to the occiput;
- Fire and shrapnel blind injury to the soft tissues of the inner surface of the left thigh and left foot.
Complications: Post-traumatic meningoencephalitis.
27-year-old Dmytro was born and lives in the city of Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region. He is not married and is his mother’s only son.
After graduating from college, he worked at a mining and beneficiation plant as a mechanic repairing water pumps, and later in his career as a railway track fitter.
In April 2023, Dmytro voluntarily joined the NSU Operational Task Force and defended the Motherland in the Zaporizhzhia region as a gunner of artillery systems.

“In June 2024, Dmytro received leave and came to his hometown to rest and be with his parents. On the evening of 16.06.24, he was walking with his girlfriend not far from his place of residence. He met friends with whom they were sitting and chatting in a gazebo in the yard. Later, another guy joined them, who, as it turned out, had brought a grenade with him. Unexpectedly, he pulled the pin and threw the grenade behind the bench where Dmytro and the girl were sitting. The most important thing was that no one expected this because there were no quarrels or conflicts in the company. What was in the head of that scumbag, and why he did it, is for the police to explain. When the grenade hit the asphalt, all Dmytro managed to do, when he realized what was happening, was to stand behind the girl, trying to cover her. He suffered a severe head injury, and a few days after resuscitation, due to fragments of the skull that fell into the brain together with a fragment of a grenade, inflammation of the cerebral cortex occurred. And again, a coma, resuscitation. The doctors gave no hope that he would live. But Dmytro miraculously survived, though the metal fragment will forever remain in the brain; it cannot be removed as it is life-threatening. Dmytro currently needs an operation to install a plate to close the hole in his skull.”
Need: To pay the bill for the modeling and production of an individualized patient-specific cranial patch implant, including mounting screws and 3D printing of the anatomical model.
