On August 19, 2024, Ruslan sustained multiple injuries while performing official duties during hostilities near Pokrovsk:
- Multiple gunshot shrapnel blind wounds of the soft tissues of the face and frontal area;
- Acubarotrauma with rupture of the right tympanic membrane;
- Sensory deafness;
- Comminuted fracture of the lower jaw;
- Foreign bodies in soft tissues of the right fronto-temporo-parietal area, right ear, and lower jaw;
- Shrapnel blind wound of the upper third of the chest, not penetrating the chest cavity;
- Multiple point gunshot shrapnel blind wounds of the anterior abdominal wall without penetration;
- Shrapnel blind wound of the left forearm and hand;
- Gunshot fracture of the lower third of the right ulna with a gunshot wound to the forearm;
- Multiple gunshot shrapnel injuries to the right hip, right knee joint, and right lower leg;
- Open gunshot fracture of the lower third of the left tibia.
A 37-year-old nice, polite, and sincere hero from the Mykolaiv region.
By education, Ruslan is a combine harvester operator. However, inspired by the reform of the National Police in 2014, he joined the National Police Service in the Mykolaiv region. He became a Police Senior Sergeant.
With the beginning of the full-scale war, he united with his colleagues and defended the Bashtan district side by side with the Armed Forces.
Later, together with his brother, they decided to transfer to an assault regiment of the National Police. He defended the Motherland in many hotspots: Vovchansk, Klishchiivka, and Pokrovsk.
With sadness in his voice, he says that after such a serious injury, he will hardly be able to return to the army, so he will have to “uplift the agriculture of Ukraine”, recalling his previous profession.
His wife and two daughters are waiting for him at home.
